College Women’s Soccer Final – Guilford 8, Hollins 0

ROANOKE, Va. – Guilford College used a balanced effort to earn a Wednesday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Hollins University, 8-0.

In the first half, Guilford grew their lead, 3-0, after two goals in 1:07 to close the first half. The Quakers used a 5:34 second-half string of four goals to widen Guilford’s margin, 7-0. Guilford extended their run with only 11 second half shots after firing 37 shots in the first stanza.

Nicki Baggett (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) led the Quakers with two goals, including the game’s first goal in the 7th minute. Baggett’s second goal came in the 54th minute from Morgan Henderson (Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford).

Henderson, along with Luci Gordon, Truman Sherwood, and Cassie Vaughn each added one goal and an assist a piece.

The Quakers outshot Hollins, 48-0, while earning the edge on corner kicks, 8-0.

Caitlyn Young earned the victory in net for the Quakers. Hollins’ Megan McKee made 22 saves.

Guilford returns to action Saturday, hosting Shenandoah University for a 1 p.m. ODAC contest.
