GREENVILLE, S.C. – Sunna Vidisdottir’s three-over par 147 (76-71) led the Elon Phoenix women’s golf team through the first two rounds of the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate at the Greenville Country Club onMonday.
The maroon and gold ended the day in 11th place out of 18 teams with a team score of 613 (313-300). Elon is in search of a team title in its third straight tournament to start the season.
Vidisdottir’s performance has her in a tie for fifth out of the 95 players in the field. The junior’s 28 pars over 36 holes are tied for the most so far in the event.
Freshman Heather Munro’s 154 (78-76) places her in a tie for 40th with one round to play.
Two strokes back are a pair of Phoenix players – Emily Brooks and Kelsey Badmaev. Brooks carded two rounds of 78 for her 156, while Badmaev notched rounds of 81 and 75. Both players had 24 pars.
Finally, Hilda Kristjansdottir shot a 173 (86-87) and ended the first two rounds in 93rd place.
Winthrop’s Jennifer Dilger and GRU Augusta’s Josefine Nyqvist share the top individualspot with a one-under 143.
GRU Augusta also holds the top spot in the team standings with a 588 (297-291).
The final round of the tournament will be held on Tuesday.
