Elon Phoenix Men’s Golf in Middle of Pack Following One Round of Maryland Terrapin Invite

ROCKVILLE, Md. – Thanks to Jonathan DiIanni’s one-under par 71, the Elon men’s golf squad sits in sixth place out of 12 teams at the Maryland Terrapin Invitational through one round. The Phoenix carded a 301 as a team.

Two rounds were scheduled to be played on Monday, but the second round had to be suspended due to fog. It will be resumed at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday from the Woodmont Country Club.

Jonathan DiIanni’s performance placed him in a tie for fifth out of 75 competitors. He led all players with six birdies over the first 18 holes.

Three strokes back with a 74 is Jeff Krieger who posted 13 pars. He was followed by Jake Leavitt who posted 12 pars. Leavitt’s 76 placed him in a tie for 30th.

Will DiIanni finished the first round in a tie for 63rd with a score of 80. Rounding out the five countable players for Elon was Charlie May. May’s 81 has him tied for 67th.

Two Phoenix players are competing as individuals. Robbie Seebold is tied for 63rd with an 80. Dex Blank’s 82 has him tied for 70th.

George Mason’s Kyle Hart shot a first-round 68 to hold the individual lead.

Loyola (Md.) tallied a one-under 287 to sit first after one round.
