LEXINGTON, Va. – Guilford College’s women’s swimming team placed ninth at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Relays at Washington and Lee University Saturday. The host Generals won the nine-team meet with 950 points, well in front of runner-up Emory & Henry College (640).
The Quakers’ 150-yard breaststroke and 200 freestyle relays both had 11th-place finishes, which marked Guilford’s best effort. The 3×50 breaststroke team of Carly Wlezniak, Morgan McKinnon and Isabel Gutierrez finished in one minute, 53.78 seconds among 17 teams. The 200 freestyle team of Gutierrez, Hannah Brewer-Jensen, Wlezniak and McKinnon placed 11th among 16 teams in 2:00.50.
Gutierrez and fellow newcomer Wlezniak scored the most points for Guilford. Gutierrez was on the 150 butterfly, the 200 medley and 3×100 medley IM relay. She scored 13 points. Wlezniak also contributed to the 500 freestyle, 200 medley and 3×100 medley IM relays to accumulate 12.17 points.
Coach Emily Wilson’s Quakers have their first double-dual meet competition of the year Nov. 1 at Hollins University with Greensboro College at 1:00 p.m.
