Elon’s Waterman Earns CAA Men’s Soccer Player of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – Senior Jason Waterman of the Elon University men’s soccer team was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Soccer Player of the Week on Monday, Oct. 20, as announced by the league office.

The senior striker helped the Phoenix go undefeated last week in its two CAA matches at No. 21 UNC Wilmington and against defending league champion Drexel. The Bloomington, Ind., native scored his first game-winner of the year at UNCW in the 84th minute to give the Phoenix a 2-1 victory over the nationally ranked Seahawks. He also had an assist in that contest on the Phoenix’s first goal.

Waterman shared the league’s weekly honors with Delaware’s Guillermo Delgado as the Phoenix improved to 3-1-1 in the CAA and currently sits atop the league standings. Elon also has won three straight and is unbeaten in its last four matches.

The maroon and gold returns to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 21, for a home match versus in-state rival Duke. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
