GC Men’s Soccer Roll Past Piedmont 5-0

DEMOREST, GA — The Greensboro College Pride men’s soccer team returned to action on Friday night on the road against Piedmont College. The Pride came away with a 5-0 victory.

George Dimopoulos got the Pride on the board first in the 13th minute of play. Dimopoulos placed his shot into the upper left corner of the goal after receiving a pass from Shaun Watt making the score 1-0 in favor of the Pride.

Just five minutes later, Drew Clukey took a pass from Marco Figueroa and found the back of the net extending the lead to 2-0. Dimopouols was able to find beat the Lions keeper one last time in the half for his second goal sending the Pride into the intermission period with a 3-0 lead.

Twelve minutes into the second period of play, Craig Gage extended the Pride lead to 4-0 off a set piece from Scott Fatyol. Greensboro College would score on last time in the 85th minute with an unassisted goal by Asa Britten giving the Pride the 5-0 victory.

The Pride outshot Piedmont in the game 17-4. Craig Gage led the way for the Pride with five shots while Robbie Barnes and Dimopoulos added three shots each..

Logan Rohde stopped the only shot he faced on the day picking up his seventh shutout on the season.

With the win, the Pride extends their winning streak to six games while improving their record to 10-6 overall and 8-1 in USA South play. The Pride men will once again be action tomorrow afternoon for their final regular season contest of the season at Maryville College. The first whistle is set for 2:00 PM.
