GC Soccer Pride Women Fall in OT Against Piedmont 2-1

DEMOREST, GA — The Greensboro College Pride women’s soccer team returned to action on Friday night on the road against Piedmont College. The Pride fell in a heartbreaker 2-1 in overtime,

After a scoreless first half of play, the Lion broke the tie with a goal in the 53rd minute taking a 1-0 lead. The Pride however was able to find the equalizer in the 65th minute when Allison Gibson found the back of the net off an assist by Samara Alba evening the score at 1-1 after regulation.

In the overtime period, the Lions found the game winning goal in with less than a minute to play in the frame.

Greensboro College had eight shots in the game as Lauren Greeson, Samara Alba, Elizabeth Torres, Allison Gibson, and Victoria Braden each recorded at least one shot.

Jessica Thatcher took the loss for the Pride despite making five saves.

The Pride women’s overall record falls to 8-6-1 and 6-3-1 in conference play. The Pride women will return to action tomorrow afternoon against the Scots of Maryville College. The contest will get underway thirty minutes following the conclusion of the men’s game.
