Summers(Page HS) takes a Fall, but gets back up to lead his team to a 31-30 victory(1,000 yards rushing on the season in 9 games)

Hinds quarterback James Summers (Greensboro, N.C.) got the scoring started for both teams on the game’s opening drive, as he rushed in from three yards out with 11:34 to go in the first quarter. Joseph Houston (Pelahatchie) drilled the point after attempt and Hinds led 7-0 early on.

Summers would finish the night with 29 carries for 154 yards and two touchdowns, and in the process, break the 1,000 yard barrier by a mere yard, finishing the season with 187 carries for 1,001 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. He was also 14-21 for 133 yards in the passing department.

The Hinds Community College stopped the Southwest Community College Bears on a two-point conversion with 37 seconds to go to give the Eagles of Hinds a 31-30 thrilling victory in the home and 2014 season football finale.

Hinds finished 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the South with the win, while Southwest ended the 2014 campaign with a 3-5 overall record and 2-4 mark in the South.
