College Men’s Soccer Final – Bridgewater 3, Guilford 1

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Bridgewater College’s Ben Lewis led all scorers with two goals and an assist as Guilford College dropped a Saturday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest to the host Eagles, 3-1.

Bridgewater scored their two goals 3:51 apart midway through the first half. Lewis took a Cole Georges feed in the 19th minute to claim an early lead. Lewis found himself on the giving end in the 23rd minute, finding Alex Farrington to widen the Eagle lead, 2-0. Georges connected with Lewis a second time in the second period for a 54th minute free kick goal, extending the lead.

Near the buzzer, Izzy Betancourt took the ball from 15 yards out straight on to put the Quakers on the board, 3-1.

The Eagles outshot the Quakers, 17-6, while holding the edge on corner kicks, 6-2.

Marko Mandalinic made seven saves in net for the Quakers. Bridgewater’s Kevin Morris stopped three shots.

The Quakers return to action Tuesday, traveling to Roanoke College for a 7:30 p.m. regular season ending ODAC contest.
