Terrell Leach, from Southwest Guilford HS and now with the Winston-Salem State Rams basketball team has been named the CIAA Basketball Newcomer of the Week….

HAMPTON, VA – Winston-Salem State’s WyKevin Bazemore, Terrell Leach and coach James Wilhelmi, were all honored by the CIAA this week as Player of the Week, Newcomer of the Week and Co-Coach of the Week, for their efforts against Fairmont State.

WyKevin Bazemore, (Sr, Forward – Kelford, NC), had a monster game versus Fairmont State, as he finished with a game-high 23 points to go with a game-high 17 rebounds. Bazemore has recorded double doubles in six of the Rams seven games so far this season.

Terrell Leach, (R-Fr, Guard – High Point, NC), had another big game for the WSSU Rams, as he finished with 13 points, seven steals, five rebounds and two assists in the Rams road win over the Fairmont St. Falcons.

James Wilhelmi, in his first year as WSSU’s head coach, has his WSSU Rams rolling, as they are currently 6-1 overall and ranked third in the Atlantic Region’s media poll. This mark the third time Wilhelmi has been honored this season. The Rams defeated the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State, 80-75 on Saturday, giving the team another big road win, and another big regional win. The Rams have gone 2-0 against teams from the Mountain East Conference.
