  1. Mater Dei enters this game with the longest current win streak in the country. They have won 46 straight dating back to January 2013.

  2. looks like smith is having a rough time away from home….hopefully it will make them stronger for the upcoming local games! Go EAGLES!

  3. Looks like Wesleyan is going to get a huge win against perennial national power Mater Dei. Great win for them and a great win for our area. Shows just how good the basketball is in the area private schools. Final is 67-62 Wesleyan.

  4. Wesleyan, GDS, and HPCA can compete with anyone in the country and beat almost anyone. HPCA’s record isn’t as impressive, but the schedule they’ve played is borderline crazy. GDS has been the most impressive team to this point, but Wesleyan is still winning and this one was against a very good team. Will be interesting to see how the 3 of those teams settle things over the next couple of months. I don’t think people realize how good of high school basketball is being played in our area.

  5. HPCA doesn’t have the athletes to compete. Mediocre at best. They just have more mediocre players than a public school will have. I would also find another assistant coach, he is out of control on the bench. It appears that he makes the coaching decisions. It is not a good look.

  6. HPCA has already shown they can compete with national caliber teams, that’s been established. They’ve played the toughest schedule on NC. Don’t see how you dispute that, just last week they had wesleyan on the ropes. Young team, will only get better. 3rd best team behind wesleyan and gds right now. Pretty sure their coaching situation is just fine however. Been a steady lead man for awhile now. Nothing wrong with having involved assistants, especially with how they try to play.

  7. Just an outside observer but there is nothing wrong with the HPC coaching. Obviously you have not seen the GDS coaching staff. They have asst coaches that go just as crazy when needed. I love to see coaches that allow their asst coaches to get involved as long as they understand their place. Both of these staffs are well prepared and desire the good that they are teaching these kids. HPC would crush any average high school team. I love to see them play and kids love that system.
