Elon’s Bryant Tabbed CAA MBB Player and Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University’s Elijah Bryant has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week in addition to Rookie of the Week, the league office announced today, Jan. 5. Bryant shares the player of the week award with Northeastern’s T.J. Williams.

In Elon’s inaugural CAA game, Bryant poured in a career-high 32 points and grabbed a season-best seven rebounds as the Phoenix posted a 77-67 road victory over Drexel on Saturday. It was the most points by an Elon player since 2012 and was Bryant’s third game with 20+ points this season. He finished 10-of-20 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from three, and made 9-of-10 at the free throw line. He leads all CAA freshmen in scoring with 13.9 points per game.

Bryant has earned rookie of the week honors four times this season. Bryant is the second Phoenix player to earn CAA Player of the Week laurels this year, as Luke Eddy earned the conference’s weekly honor on Dec. 15.

Elon returns to action tonight at 7 p.m. in Towson, Md., against the Towson Tigers.
