Personal Bests Set for Elon Track and Field at Hilton Garden Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A few members of the Elon University women’s track and field team established a few personal-bests on Friday, Jan. 30, on the opening day of the Hilton Garden Invitational inside the JDL Fast Track complex.

Sophomore Briana O’Grady had a new personal-record in the weight throw with a toss of 48’ 11” (14.91m). The throw also placed the Kingstown, R.I., native in the top-five of the program’s all-time performance list.

In the 3,000-meters, seniors Emily Dunne and Kaitlin Stober also had new personal-records in the race. Dunne clocked in a time of 10:16.74 as the Phoenix’s top finisher while Stober ran a time of 10:30.37.

The freshman duo of Emily Dixon and Lydia Laws qualified for the semifinals of the 60-meter hurdles tomorrow after posting times of 9.09 and 9.14, respectively. Senior Haley Laird and junior Megan Kirschling finished tied for sixth overall in the high jump after clearing the bar at 5’ 3.75” (1.62m).

Jennifer Esposito earned a top-10 finish in the 400-meter run with her time of 57.72. Junior Jennifer Pash clocked a time of 59.57 in her first indoor race of the season.

The Phoenix returns to the final day of competition tomorrow with field events beginning at 9 a.m. and the first running event, the 60-meter hurdles semifinals, starting at 9:30 a.m.
