Elon Track and Field Heads to Buccaneer Invitational

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women’s track and field team continues its indoor slate this weekend, Feb. 6-7, as the Phoenix travels to East Tennessee State to compete at the Buccaneer Invitational inside the Mountain States Health Alliance Athletics Center.

Last Time Out
Elon competed at the Hilton Garden Invitational last weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C. Sophomore Kimberly Johansen set a new school-record in the indoor one-mile after winning the race with her time of 4:55.85. The time also qualified Johansen for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.

Other standout performers from last weekend include fellow sophomore Briana O’Grady, who broke into the top-five on the program’s all-time performance list in the weight throw. O’Grady threw a personal-best mark of 48’ 11” (14.91m) in the event.

In the women’s high jump, junior Megan Kirschling finished third overall in the event after clearing the bar at 5’ 5.75” (1.67m).

On Deck
The Phoenix returns back to the JDL Fast Track Complex for the final time during the indoor season as the maroon and gold will compete at the High Point Team Challenge next Thursday, Feb. 12.
