Game Report: Boys Basketball – Northwest Guilford vs Watauga – Playoffs – Round 2

GAME NOTES:
–After an uneasy opening to the game, Northwest Guilford was able to put together an 8-0 run over the last 3 minutes of the 1st quarter to end that frame with a 19-15 advantage. The Vikings then applied constant pressure to a very good Watauga team on their way to an impressive 83-48 victory in the 2nd round of the state 4-A playoffs. The Vikings only led by 8 points at the half but forced the Pioneers into a series of miscues to start the 3rd quarter as the lead ballooned to 20+ points.
–The Vikings’ shared the ball throughout the game and again placed 5 players in double figures. Jaylen Gore led Northwest with 19 points, 6 assists, & 4 rebounds. Reggie Davis manned the paint for the Vikings with 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Thomas Hennigan had 13 points and 8 rebounds while Tre Turner also contributed 13 points and 6 rebounds. Jalen Spicer added to the Northwest effort with 10 points to go along with 6 assists and 4 rebounds.
–A. Dobbins led the Pioneers with 15 points while C. Bryson added 12 points for Watauga.
–The Vikings will be on the road again on Tuesday, March 3rd to face W. Charlotte at 6:30 pm in the Sectional Finals of the state 4-A playoffs.
