Elon Opens Play at Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate

AIKEN, S.C. – In a field that features six top-50 programs, the Elon Phoenix shot a first-day score of 585 (293-292) to sit 17th following two rounds of The Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on Monday.

Jake Leavitt led the maroon and gold through the first two rounds, shooting a two-over par 142 (73-69) over the first 36 holes of the tournament and is tied for 36th out of 90 players. Leavitt had nine total birdies over the course of the day.

One stroke back in a tie for 42nd is Jonathan DiIanni. DiIanni carded rounds of 71 and 72 to sit at 143 (+3). He tallied six pars and one eagle over his 36 holes on Monday.

Sitting in a tie for 73rd is Charlie May. May ended the day with a 149 (75-74) after eight birdies in his two rounds of action.

Will DiIanni (74-78) and Troy Beaver (75-77) are both tied for 79th with a two-round score of 152. Will DiIanni had four birdies and an eagle, while Beaver recorded two birdies.

Georgia Southern’s Scott Wolfes, rated 50th in the nation, went eight-under on the day and leads the individual field with a 132.

Eighth-ranked South Carolina holds the team lead with a 546 (270-276). The Gamecocks lead 33rd-ranked Clemson (547) by one stroke. The remainder of the top five is 19th-ranked Virginia (552), 28th-rated Kennesaw State (558) and GRU Augusta (559) and Idaho (559).

The teams will wrap up play with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
