Elon Track and Field: Jackson¹s School-Record Leads Way at Aggie Invite

GREENSBORO, N.C – A new school-record by junior Simone Jackson in the 100-meters highlighted the performances for the Elon women’s track and field team today, April 11, at the Aggie Invitational, hosted by North Carolina A&T at the Irwin Belk Track.

Jackson clocked in a preliminary time of 12.07 in the race, breaking her previous school time of 12.18 from last season. She finished seventh overall in the final race with a time of 12.21.

Bryanna Hames won the discus throw with a toss of 148’ 9” (45.35m) while teammate Bre’anna Warren was the runner-up in the event with a throw of 146’ 0” (44.50m). Majayla Holland was fifth overall with a toss of 131’ 3” (40.01m). Warren took first place in the shot put with her heave of 44’ 0.75” (13.43m).

Lauren Livezey was the Phoenix’s top thrower in the javelin with a personal-best mark of 102’ 6” (31.25m) while Briana O’Grady broke into the program’s top-five performance list in the hammer throw with a toss of 143’ 0” (43.59m).

Megan Kirschling won the high jump after clearing the bar with a height of 5’ 8.5” (1.74m). The Phoenix’s 4×100-meter relay team of Jackson, Jennifer Pash, Bria Turner and Sydney Griffin won its race with a time of 47.64. Griffin ran a time of 13.81 in the 100-meter hurdles to finish fifth overall. Samantha Brown ran a time of 1:03.36 in the 400-meter hurdles to finish third overall.

Elon is back in action next Saturday, April 18, for its first home meet in eight years, the Phoenix Invitational.
