WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – Fueled by Jonathan Dilanni’s three-under 137 that has him tied for the individual lead, Elon placed seventh after two rounds at the Greenbrier Invitational. The Phoenix ended the day with a mark of 577 (288-289).
DiIanni opened his day by shooting a 67 over his first 18 holes. He tallied eight birdies in the first round of the day. In his second round, DiIanni shot an even-par 70 that included three birdies. He shares the lead with two other players in the 72-competitor field – East Tennessee State’s Gudmund Krisjansson and Eastern Kentucky’s Jared Brown.
In a tie for 17th, Troy Beaver shot a four-over 144 over his 36 holes on Monday. Beaver used five birdies in his first round on his way to a one-over 71. He had one birdie and carded a 73 over his final 18 holes of the day.
Charlie May stands in a 26th-place tie after day one. May was three-over with one birdie and a 73 in round one before posting both a birdie and eagle on his way to a second 73 in round two.
Will DiIanni’s 152 has him tied for 52nd. He had a combined five birdies with rounds of 79 and 73. Two strokes back in a tie for 56th is Jake Leavitt. Leavitt posted two rounds of 77 for his 154. He ended the day with four total birdies.
East Tennessee State, ranked 37th nationally, holds a one-stroke advantage over Eastern Kentucky in the team standings. ETSU posted a total score of 566 (280-286) and Eastern Kentucky is at 567 (283-284).
The final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at The Old White TPC Golf Course.
