College Men’s Lacrosse Final – Washington and Lee 15, Guilford 5

LEXINGTON, Va. – Cam Lewis scored four times and Cameron Debir added three goals in Washington and Lee University’s 15-5 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse victory over visiting Guilford College Wednesday night.

The Generals (10-6, 5-3 ODAC) thwarted Guilford comebacks in the second and fourth quarters to send the Quakers (9-5, 3-5 ODAC) to their third straight setback.

Trailing 5-1 midway through the second quarter, Daniel Haupt and Jace Sowden scored back-to-back goals, which brought Guilford to within 5-3 at halftime.

Washington and Lee netted all four third-quarter goals, two by Lewis, and led, 9-3, after three periods. Lewis scored his final goal in the fourth quarter, which capped a 5-0 Generals’ run and opened a 10-3 lead. Guilford’s Andrew McDonagh and Dylan Haupt responded with consecutive tallies and trimmed the deficit to 10-5 with 6:41 to play.

The Quakers drew no closer as Washington and Lee scored five times in the final 4:41, including two goals by Debir.

Garrett Paglia had two goals and an assist for Washington and Lee, which also got a goal and two helpers from Kevin Katzmann. Washington and Lee won 17-of-24 faceoffs, 14 by Jack Clarke, who also had a game-high eight ground balls and one goal. Wyatt Devine made eight saves in over 57 minutes between the pipes.

Daniel Haupt’s two goals led Guilford’s offense. Dylan Haupt, McDonagh and Sowden also scored. Daniel Hughey and Duncan Fitzgerald notched assists. Guilford’s Ian Wiesenberg had a team-high four ground balls and Thomas Deane stopped 14 saves in goal.
