LYNCHBURG, Va. – Guilford College’s men’s lacrosse team closed the regular season with an 11-7 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory at Randolph College Saturday. The Quakers (10-6, 4-5 ODAC) clinched their 10th win of the season, one shy of the school record and Guilford’s most triumphs since 1992.

Guilford senior Jace Sowden scored both of his team-high two goals during a decisive 6-0 first-half run that turned a 3-1 deficit into a 7-3 halftime lead. Daniel Hughey started the spurt with 3:22 left in the first quarter. Daniel Haupt scored to start the second period and tie the game at 3-3. The Quakers outscored the WildCats (5-10, 1-8 ODAC), 5-0, in the second quarter.

Randolph’s Shane Soghomonian netted the second of his three goals 3:33 into the third quarter and set up Ryan Campbell’s score just over four minutes later, which made it a 7-5 game. Guilford answered with a 4-1 run that featured both of Dylan Haupt’s goals and a man-up tally by Chandler Zirkle. The WildCats’ Soghomonian scored the game’s final goal with 2:25 left.

Dylan Haupt added two assists to his two goals and finished with four points, a team high. Sowden scored twice, as did Hughey, who also had an assist. Connor Manning won 12-of-21 faceoffs and picked up seven ground balls for the Quakers. Teammate Thomas Deane was solid in goal with 12 stops. Senior defenseman Nick Huckins caused three Randolph turnovers and picked up four ground balls.
