College Men’s Track and Field Results: Top Guilford Runners Participate in the Duke Twilight

DURHAM, N.C – A group of Guilford College’s top runners competed in Wednesday’s and Thursday’s Duke Twilight meet. The meet featured a mixture of competitors including Guilford’s Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Virginia Wesleyan College.

Andris Goncarovs led off Wednesday’s action for the Quakers by running the eighth-fastest 5,000 meter run time in Guilford history at 15:05.65. The finish placed 14th in the race. David Cason (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) claimed 25th at 15:30.68.

On Thursday, the 4×400 meter relay team of C.J. Green, Johnny Sumner, Brandon Rothfuss, and Trent Evans (Winston-Salem, N.C./R.J. Reynolds) broke the school’s record in the event with a time of 3:21.05. The time placed fifth in a race where the field was separated by less than 11 seconds.

Nick Reynolds raced as the only Division III runner in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 10:45.46.

A portion of Coach Danny Cash’s Quakers return to the track Monday, traveling to Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania for the Swarthmore Last Chance meet.
