Elon’s Esposito Sets New Track And Field School-Record at Duke Twilight

DURHAM, N.C – Fresh off capturing its first-ever Colonial Athletic Association team championship, the Elon University women’s track and field team was back in action competing at the Duke Twilight on Wednesday, May 6, at Wallace Wade Stadium.

RESULTS

Jen Esposito highlighted the first day results of the meet for the Phoenix as the Mansfield, Mass., native set a personal-best time of 57.75 in the 400-meter hurdles. Esposito, who won the CAA championship in the 400-meter hurdles last Saturday, May 2, broke her own school-record of 58.96 that she set just last weekend and was second overall in the race.

Junior Sydney Griffin was fourth in the 100-meters after the Marietta, Ga., native ran a season-best time of 13.66. Elon also saw thrower Bryanna Hames finish fourth in the discus with a toss of 157’ 6” (48.01m). Teammate Bre’anna Warren was eighth after a heave of 147’ 8” (45.00m).

Briana O’Grady was ninth in the hammer throw with a toss of 145’ 1” (44.22m). A few members of the Phoenix distance team closed out the evening with Shelby Cuddeback running a time of 4:44.31 in the 1,500-meters while Kaitlin Stober (seventh, 18:38.82) and Sabina Bains (eighth, 18:55.33) competed in the 5,000-meters.

The Phoenix closes out the meet tomorrow, May 7, with field events beginning at 3 p.m. and running events starting at 6 p.m.
