HiToms Triumph on Memorial Day

HiToms Hit Big Scoring 10 Runs off 13 Hits

THOMASVILLE, NC, MAY 25 – In an exhibition game the HiToms win 10-3 against the Carolina Pirates to improve to 2-0 on the season. Two early runs helped boost the HiToms to a 2-0 lead after Slater doubled and batted in Culler and Hall in the bottom of the first.

On the mound for the HiToms, Javarais Banks (1-0) got to work early with three strikeouts in the first two frames, and did not allow a run in his five innings on the hill.

The Pirates would not strike until platting two in the top of the sixth, but that would still not be enough to outlast the powerhouse offense of the HiToms who scored ten runs off thirteen hits.

In the bottom on the eighth Drew Ellis hit a solo homerun for his first of the season to give the HiToms an 8-2 lead. Then the HiToms added two more insurance runs in the frame to take a commanding 10-2 lead.

The Pirates played a lone run in the top of the ninth to try to spark a comeback that was eventually muffled by Hedrick on the mound.

The HiToms are back at Finch Field for their first home CPL game against the Florence Redwolves at 7:00 p.m. This will be a Shuler Meats dollar night where all drinks, adult beverages and hot dogs are only one dollar!
