JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – High Point University women’s track & field junior Christine Rickert put together a career-best finish in the javelin throw Thursday in NCAA Preliminary action inside Hodges Stadium.
Rickert placed 15th in the competition with a throw of 47.14m (154-8). The finish was her best to date in NCAA Preliminary action and just three spots away from qualifying for an NCAA Championship berth.
The Lancaster, Pa., native has competed in the NCAA Preliminary in all three of her seasons in an HPU uniform. She placed 23rd in 2013 as a freshman and 18th as a sophomore last season.
Rickert put forth an excellent junior campaign in 2015. She won the Big South javelin title with a school record throw of 49.53m (162-6) on May 14 inside Vert Stadium. The victory was one of five javelin titles captured by Rickert in 2015. She was a two-time Big South Field Athlete of the Week and broke her own school record on three occasions during the year.
