Mother Nature Takes the Win:Lightning/rain stops Kernersville Bulldogs 4-1 lead over HiToms

Mother Nature Takes the Win

Midway through the fifth lighting would end the game with a 4-1 lead in the hands on the Kernersville Bulldogs

THOMASVILLE, NC, – Before Mother Nature would call the game, the Kernersville Bulldogs would be holding a comfortable 4-1 lead over the High Point – Thomasville HiToms.

Neither team would plate a run until the third where the Bulldogs would strike first scoring one in the third and then three in the fourth to make it a 4-0 lead at the start of the fifth.

In the bottom of the third David Shaefer (The Masters College) would be replaced by Pete Guy (UNC Asheville) after suffering a hand injury forcing him to leave the game.

Walks would prove to be the downfall early for the HiToms, as their pitchers would combine for five walks and one HBP. The HiToms would not put a run on the board till the fifth. This would come off a double steal as the ball got away from the shortstop and Kody Ruedisili came home from third.

Lightning would delay the game for forty minutes but ultimately Mother Nature would take the win and end the game due to excessive rain and lightning. This game will not be made up.

The HiToms will play tomorrow (6/1) against the Wilson Tobs for the annual NC Amtrak train game at 7:00 p.m.
