HiToms Fall 3-0 To Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, VA, – After two hours of light rain and sub 65 degree weather that had fans dressed for a winter night the HiToms (2-6) would fall to the Martinsville Mustang (4-3) 3-0.

Javarais Banks (Cameron University) would start for the HiToms and allow no runs until the bottom of the third where the scoring would start. Eric Lowe (Villanova) would score the first run off a single accompanied by an error that would put the Mustangs at an early 1-0 lead.

The Hitoms would try to respondin the top of the fourth after Hunter Slater (Southern Mississippi) would single and also benefit from an error and move to second. He would then advance to third off a David Newcomer (Lenoir-Ryhne) sacrifice bunt. However, Chandler Hall (Louisiana Tech) would strike out followed by a Dalton Mosbarger (Akron University) pop fly for the second and third outs.

The Mustangs would score again in the bottom of the fourth after Justin Dattilo (Maryland Eastern Shore) singled to plate Jonathan Pryor (Wake Forest) who would come all the way from second. The Mustangs would take a 2-0 lead heading into the fifth.

After the HiToms would fail to get a hit in the top of the fifth, Martinsville would continue the steady march after Christian Hollie (Texas Arlington) would triple to left and plate yet another run off a Jake Ring (Missouri) single. The HiToms would trail 3-0 heading into the sixth.

In the bottom of the sixth Tyler Trout (Middle Tennessee) would take the mound and replace Banks. Troutt would allow one hit but no runs. Zach Beaver (Akron) would come in the bottom of the eighth allowing no runs or hits.

In the bottom of the ninth the HiToms would not be able to respond. The Finial score would be 3-0 favoring the Martinsville Mustangs. The HiToms are back in Thomasville tomorrow for Super Hero Night against the Forest City Owls at 7:00 p.m.
