Elon Football Claims FCS ADA Academic Progress Rate Award

ELON, N.C. – The Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) presented Elon with its Academic Progress Rate (APR) Award as the Phoenix was recognized for having the highest APR among CAA Football programs with a 984 for the 2013-14 year. The APR Award recognizes the one institution from each of the 13 FCS conferences that has the highest APR score.

“We are proud of our student-athletes and the effort they put forth in the classroom that makes us a leader among our peers,” said Elon head football coach Rich Skrosky. “This also reflects the great work done by Cayce Crenshaw and her staff in our office of Academic Support for Athletics.”

The NCAA member colleges and universities adopted a comprehensive academic reform package designed to improve the academic success and graduation of all student-athletes. The centerpiece of the package is the academic measurement for teams, known as the APR.

The institutions received their awards during the FCS ADA Luncheon sponsored by Borden Perlman Insurance Agency, on Monday, June 15 in conjunction with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Convention at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Fla.

The Elon football program was one of eight Phoenix squads recently recognized by the NCAA for scoring in the top 10 percent in their sport nationally. Elon led the Colonial Athletic Association with eight honorees.
