HiToms Fall on the Road, 4-2

MCNAIR FIELD, NC, – In a quite game where runs were hard to come by, the HiToms were unable to capitalize at the plate. The Forest City Owls (8-16) out scored the High Point – Thomasville HiToms (12-13), 4-2.

The HiToms struck first with a run in the bottom of the first. Daniel Millwee (University Arizona) singled right over the mound to start the movement. Jake Maziar (Costal Carolina) doubled to right, which moved Millwee to third. A sacrifice fly from Peter Johnson (Presbyterian College) plated the first run of the night.

In the top of the fifth the Tommies plated another run as Ryan Hedrick (Presbyterian) came home off a pass ball to lead 2-0.

After four scoreless innings the Owls plated a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth. Then in the bottom of the sixth the Owls tied the game on a base hit to bring home run number two. Shortly after, run three came home off a single into right. Heading to the seventh the HiToms trailed 3-2.

In the bottom of the eighth, Max Miller (Duke) blasted a solo home run to make it a 4-2 ball game favoring the Forest City Owls. The HiToms were unable to come back in the top of the ninth.

The HiToms are back home tomorrow night for the first time in five days against the Martinsville Mustangs. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
