Neither team really dominant this morning in Southern Guilford at Northwest Guilford scrimmage

Neither team dominated the other in the Southern Guilford at Northwest Guilford football scrimmage this morning and it all got rolling at 9am, on the lacrosse practice field at NWG…

Southern was very strong running the ball early on and their QB, Rayshawn Knight(#10) I think it is, had very much success on the ground and he scored at least one TD and he was able to get and lead his team up the field against the NWG defense….The JV QB from SG, also a #10, took his offensive unit into the end zone as well for the Storm…Simply put the Southern Guilford Storm was having success against the NWG “D”…

The Northwest Guilford offense struggled in the beginning, but the steadily got better and they stayed the course mainly behind the direction of QB Jake Smith and Northwest found TD time at least twice with Thomas Hennigan being the receiver that got them the six…

Hennigan has ditched his old #10 jersey number and now he wears #7 and as a wideout to right side of the field, Hennigan was able to make several key receptions and he was the primary target of the NWG quarterbacks…Hennigan has height, at least 6’2, and he has the ability to go up and get the ball and he can also stretch out the field….When Southern went with double-coverage on Hennigan, it made his job much tougher and the NWG QB’s found it much more difficult to get him the ball cleanly…

NWG is much more of a passing team than they are a running team at this stage of the preseason and Southern Guilford has found their runs to be on course and better than the pass as they go into these preseason scrimmages….SG had Ron Hunt, Tarik Haaq and Kenyon Taylor out there wide, so you know they want to get them the ball and they will in time and space….NWG has Kyle Fennie and Zack Welch that can run and I’m sure that they will do that at the right time too….I don’t see the NWG QB’s running the ball as much as Rayshawn Knight will for Southern…Knight has his steps down and he doesn’t slow down when he hits the line or when he goes to the edge…

Both teams games will come in time and there were plenty of coaches and fans out there checking out these two teams as they went at it this morning at NWG….Saw folk from Eastern Guilford, Grimsley, Smith, Ragsdale, East Forsyth and others in and around the scrimmage area this morning…..

On to more scrimmages the fans will go today, with Smith and Dudley over at WS Parkland for a shot at some of the Forsyth County schools tonight and then you also have the Novant Family Health Jamboree at Northern Guilford with NG, Ragsdale and Eastern Guilford on hand out there on Spencer Dixon Road, at the NG Nighthawks Complex and at Johnny Roscoe Stadium….

*****Do got to say, nice Breeze and nice Shade, out there at Northwest Guilford today while watching the scrimmage.*****
