College Women’s Soccer Final – Guilford 0, Wesleyan (Ga.) 0 (2 OT)

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College held Wesleyan College (Ga.) without a shot in a Sunday afternoon contest that ended in a draw, 0-0, inside Appenzeller Field at Armfield Athletic Center.

The Quakers held a commanding shot advantage, 22-0, and an overwhelming 13-1 advantage on corner kicks. Guilford fired off three shots in the first seven minutes of play to jump start the offensive attack before battling offside calls during the middle of the half. The Quakers generated two shots and two corner kick opportunities in the last seven minutes of the first half, but were stopped by Wesleyan’s Centara Nulf.

After a calm second half offensively, the Quakers stormed the final minutes of the first overtime period with a close header by Morgan Henderson off of a set piece. The Quakers fired off three shots in the first three minutes of overtime with some key opportunities narrowly missed.

Christian Heggie and Cassie Vaughn led the Quakers with five shots a piece while Morgan Henderson total four shots.

Maggie Albert held a shutout for all 110 minutes in net for the Quakers. Nulf totalled 13 saves in goal for the Wolves.

The Quakers (1-1-1) faces the Wolves again next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with the contest taking place at Salem College.
