Elon WTEN Phoenix Complete Day One of Elon Invitational

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women’s tennis team completed the first day of competition at the Elon Invitational on Friday, Sept. 11, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Olivia Lucas, Erica Braschi, Kamilla Beisenova, and Taylor Casey all earned spots in the quarterfinals of their respective flights with first round victories on Friday.

Freshman Maria Paraja earned her first-career singles victory for Elon with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Western Carolina’s Webb. She earns a spot in the Powell Singles flight.

In doubles action, Acorn flight duo of Casey and Suzanne Zenoni will play in the final after defeating Ranzahuer and Noreegaard of Georgia Southern in the opening round, and Muamba and Ramic of N.C. Central to advance to the final.

In addition to Casey and Zenoni, Elon duos of Lucas and Natalia Janowicz and Paraja and Beisenova each advanced to the semifinals in their flights, but couldn’t earn a spot in the finals on Sunday.

Day two begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Complex with the conclusion of semifinal singles matches. The finals for singles and doubles will be played on Sunday to conclude the fall tournament.
