College Volleyball Final – Guilford 3, Eastern Mennonite 1

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Casey Davis (Thomasville, N.C./Trinity) put away a match-high 11 kills and had two of Guilford College’s season-high 15 team blocks in the Quakers’ 3-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball win over visiting Eastern Mennonite University Saturday. The Quakers (5-11, 2-4 ODAC) won 25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21.

In a match where neither team hit particularly well, Guilford combined for 27 points on blocks (15) and service aces (12) alone. Marinda Popp made a game-high 10 blocks in addition to her four kills. Heather Crawford added five rejections and four kills. Kelsey Ruehling also had four kills and shared match-high honors with four service aces. Brooke Herr served up four winners in addition to her season-best four kills. Maile Munro contributed a match-high 28 assists, five blocks and nine digs. Steffi Dutton paced the back row with a match-high 16 digs.

Janna Williams and Maria Yoder had 10 kills apiece for the Royals (9-9, 2-5 ODAC), but also combined for 19 hitting errors. Skyler Johnson added nine putaways and 12 digs. Katie Miller led Eastern Mennonite with 13 pickups. Jasmine Johnson set up 28 assists and had seven digs.
