College Football News – Guilford’s Adam Smith Named ODAC Offensive Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College senior Adam Smith (Mocksville, N.C./Davie County) earned his second Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week Award of the season Sunday. The senior claimed the first honor of his career last month.

Smith, a 5-10, 175-pound receiver, set the school record with 253 receiving yards on 10 catches in Guilford’s 55-38 ODAC win over visiting Shenandoah University. His 253 receiving yards stand fifth in ODAC history and mark his school-record 15th career contest with at least 100 receiving yards. Smith matched his career high with three touchdowns in the game, his third three-touchdown contest in five outings this year. Guilford senior quarterback Matt Pawlowski threw scoring strikes of 20, 21 and 36 yards and averaged 25.3 yards per completion to Smith.

After five games, Smith has 39 catches for a league-best 755 yards and 10 touchdowns. He averages an ODAC-high 19.4 yards per reception and has four games with over 100 receiving yards. Smith set Guilford’s career records for receiving yards (3,481) and receiving touchdowns (38) last month. He stands fifth in school history with 197 career receptions. Smith is fifth among ODAC career receiving yards leaders and third in career touchdown catches.
