MORGONTON, NC – The Greensboro College men’s golf team competed in the 2015 Donald Ross Invitational hosted by Appalachian State University that concluded on Tuesday afternoon. The Pride was the lone non NCAA Division I member to compete in the event and finished in eleventh place out of thirteen teams.

John Grimes and Luke Grogan led the way for Greensboro with identical seven over par (217) scores over three rounds of play. The seven over par score placed both of them in a 24th place tie in the 77 player field.

Grime fired rounds of 69, 75, and 73 while Luke Grogan recorded scores of 75, 72, and 70. Grime’s one under par opening round was the lowest round for Greensboro in the event while Grogan fired a team best even par (70) in the final round.

Levi Grogan (51st; 223), Jordan Smith (t-69th; 233), and Corey Stamper (75th; 238) also contributed to the overall team score.

“It was a great experience to play in a NCAA Division I tournament,” Head Coach Dirk Fennie stated following the event. “The weather and course was really nice and we proved that we can compete at an extremely high level even we did not play our best golf. We are looking forward to putting a full team score together as we wrap the fall season next week.”

The Pride men will wrap up their fall season next week at the O’Bryant-Jensen Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by Guilford College. The Two day event is slated to get underway at the par 70 Sedgefield Pete Dye Course on Monday, October 19th.
