RICHMOND, Va. – After helping the Elon University men’s soccer team to a victory over James Madison on Saturday, Oct. 17, first-year Jaiden Fortune was rewarded as the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week as released by the league office on Monday, Oct. 19.
Fortune netted the game-winning goal in the 81st minute versus the Dukes on Saturday to aid Elon in a 2-1 victory over the defending league tournament champion. The score was the fourth of the season for the Bedford, England, native and his second game-winner of the year. The victory also extended the Phoenix’s win streak to four games.
This is the second time that Fortune has received a CAA weekly award this year. Earlier this season, he was also selected the CAA Player of the Week on Sept. 14.
