College Volleyball Final – Randolph 3, Guilford 2

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Rebecca Lesnak had 14 kills and Alex Mariona added 13 in Randolph College’s 3-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball win over visiting Guilford College Friday night.

The Quakers (5-16, 2-8 ODAC) won the first two sets, 25-21, 25-20, but lost senior setter Maile Munro to injury late in the second set. Randolph (7-19, 3-7 ODAC) won the remaining three games, 25-9, 25-17, 15-11.

Munro, Guilford’s lone true setter, had 18 assists and four digs in the first two sets, in which the Quakers hit .190 as a team. With a combination of three different students at the position in the remaining three games, Guilford did not record a positive hitting percentage.

The WildCats received solid contributions from a variety of students in addition to Lesnak and Mariona. Noelle Wojciechowski scored 13.5 points thanks to eight kills, two blocks and four of Randolph’s 11 service aces. Autumn Troxell added nine kills and Elisabeth Price picked up 15 digs. Brooks Gillerlain had 22 assists.

Guilford senior Kelsey Ruehling collected her fifth double-double of the season with a match-high 17 kills and 10 digs. The league leader in service aces per game also served up three aces. The Quakers’ Casey Davis had nine kills, six assists and 16 digs. Marinda Popp added six kills and three blocks.

The Quakers host Agnes Scott College in a nonconference match Sunday (10/25) at 1:00 p.m.
