Elon Men’s Golf:Final Round of Hummingbird Intercollegiate Cancelled

Final Round of Hummingbird Intercollegiate Cancelled

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The final round of the Hummingbird Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina University has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The Elon University men’s golf team finished fourth for the tournament after an 18-hole single round of play.

Overnight rain showers coupled with continued rain on Monday morning and unfavorable forecasts for the mountains of southern Jackson County, prompted tournament officials to cancel today’s final round at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley.

Jared Mactas finished in a tie for fifth after shooting a single round score of 68 (-3). He finished just two strokes behind the individual champion Oskar Lundgren of Brevard College.

Troy Beaver and Jake Leavitt also had a solid round and finished in a tie for 10th individually. Their scores were just one behind Mactas at 69 (-2).

Elon has now concluded the fall portion of its 2015-16 season. The spring schedule will be released on a later date.
