Elon MBB Hosts Kennesaw State on Monday

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men’s basketball team completes its three-game homestand in Alumni Gym hosting Kennesaw State on Monday night, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m.

The game will broadcasted live on Phoenix All-Access with Matt Krause and Justin Biegel on the call. You can also listen to the game live on WSML 104.5 FM/1200 AM with Taylor Durham and John Roddey on the Elon IMG Sports Network. Pre-game coverage on WSML in Alumni Gym begins at 6:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Elon Phoenix hosted the Battle 4 Atlantis Sub-Regional tournament, Nov. 26-27, at Alumni Gym. Elon finished 1-1 in the tournament earning a 79-74 victory over Mount St. Mary’s on Thursday, but falling 85-81 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the final game of the tournament on Friday. The Phoenix overcame at 65-59 deficit with over three minutes remaining to defeat Mount St. Mary’s on Thursday. Tyler Seibring had a clutch trey with 45 seconds remaining to give Elon a 72-71.

Elon couldn’t overcome a deficit against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the final game on Friday, falling 85-81 after its comeback fell short. Forcing the Islanders to turn the ball over at a three-pointer from Steven Santa Ana with 22 seconds remaining, the Phoenix couldn’t convert a layup attempt with 20 seconds left. The Islanders made a layup in the final seconds to secure the win.

SAMSON MILESTONES
Tanner Samson became the program’s 39th 1,000-point scorer after scoring 23 points against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday. Samson currently sits at 254 career triples, good for third in program history. He trails, Chris Kiger who is second all-time with 259 and Jack Isenbarger who is first all-time with 264 made treys. His 664 career three-point attempts is third all-time and his 36.7 percent three-point percentage is seventh in program history.

SWOOPE CAA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman Dainan Swoope was named CAA Rookie of the Week, Nov. 23, after averaging 12.7 points in three games against No. 24 Michigan, Belmont Abbey and Syracuse. Swoope was the leading scorer for the Phoenix against both a ranked Michigan team and Syracuse on the road in the Battle 4 Atlantis mainland games. He leads the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game, and leads Elon with 16 made treys this season.
FRESH IMPACT
Elon’s freshmen have made an impact to start the 2015-16 season scoring just over 38 percent of Phoenix points to start the year. 174 of the team’s 452 points have been scored by a freshmen, which includes a team-high 76 from Dainan Swoope, 46 from Steven Santa Ana,Tyler Seibring has tabbed 43 and Karolis Kundrotas has scored nine. Sheldon Eberhardt has not tallied a point for the Phoenix this season.

ELON ON THE BIG STAGE
Elon will appear on a total of eight television games this season, including three occasions in Alumni Gym. American Sports Network (ASN) will carry Elon’s home conference games against Drexel (Jan. 2), Hofstra (Jan. 9), and Towson (Feb. 6). ASN televised Elon’s season opener at Charlotte on Nov. 13.

ESPN3 broadcasted Elon’s games at Michigan (Nov. 16) and Syracuse (Nov. 21). Elon will wrap up its appearances on the ESPN family of networks on Dec. 28 in Cameron Indoor Stadium against Duke University, will be carried on ESPNU.

UP NEXT
Elon hits the road to take on FIU on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. in FIU Arena. The Phoenix returns home after a week off to begin a three-game home stand starting on Sunday, Dec. 13 against the Wesley College Wolverines at 7 p.m. in Alumni Gym. Elon will then host Alabama State on Dec. 16, followed by UNCG on Dec. 19.
