Game Report on Southwest Guilford-Grimsley Basketball with Cowboys roping up a 79-60 victory to go (7-0) season

Southwest was on the road tonight to play the Whirlies of Grimsley High School.

Grimsley is coming off a tough road loss to Ragsdale on Wednesday night, and the Cowboys came into tonight’s tilt just off a come from behind overtime clash with the Titans of West Forsyth.

Southwest was looking to stay perfect on the year and the Whirlies were trying to get back into the win column.

The Cowboys came out of the gate strong getting up 5–0. Following a Whirlie basket at the 5:30 mark, Southwest push the lead to 14–2. The Whirlies finished the frame of strong cutting the margin to 18–9.

A Cowboy basket to open up the second quarter, the lead to 20–9. Southwest maintained a double-digit lead throughout the quarter and pushed the halftime margin two 39–22.

Three successive baskets straight out of the halftime break pushed the Cowboy lead to 45–22. The margin would increase and hover around the 30 point threshold. Grimsley once again closed out the quarter strongly to trim the margin to 60–36. The Cowboy bench was out-scored in the final frame but the Cowboys held strong to close out a 79-60 road victory.

The Cowboys remain unbeaten at 7–0. Grimsley was led by Mason Moore with 14. Southwest was led by Kobe Langley 18, Kameron Langley 13, Kaymon Mitchell 11, and Orlando Smith with 10.
