Cameron Smith Named ODAC Men’s Hoops Player of the Week

SALEM, Va. – Roanoke College’s Cameron Smith has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Smith, a senior from Lexington, N.C.(Northeast Guilford High School), helped the Maroons recover from 16 points down to post a double-overtime victory over Shenandoah and extend their winning streak to seven games as Roanoke sits atop the ODAC standings. Smith exploded for a career-high 30 points, the second-most scored by an ODAC player so far this season. He did it on 13-of-20 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 from the stripe. He scored 12 points in the second half as the Maroons recovered from their first-half deficit, and then scored the tying points to force a second overtime period. He had 10 combined points in the two extra frames towards the win. Smith also chipped in six rebounds, four assists and three steals. He’s currently averaging 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, and is sixth in the ODAC in field goal shooting (57.1%; 44-of-77).

Roanoke will be back in action on Sunday when it travels to Frostburg State for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference game.
