RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University men’s basketball freshman Tyler Seibring has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced on Monday, Jan. 11.
Seibring averaged 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in Elon’s 1-1 week. During the week, he finished shooting 50 percent from the field, and was 6-of-14 from 3-point range as the Phoenix split the week of games against James Madison and Hofstra.
The freshman forward flirted with a double-double on Thursday contributing with 11 points and nine rebounds in Elon’s 79-73 victory at James Madison. He followed that game up with a season-high 16 points and six rebounds in a narrow 80-76 loss to CAA preseason favorite Hofstra on Saturday. Seibring finished 4-of-6 from behind the three-point line against the Pride.
Seibring earns his second CAA Rookie of the Week honor and is Elon’s fourth overall CAA weekly honor this season. The Towanda, Ill. native was also named Rookie of the Week on Dec. 21. Freshman Dainan Swoope was tabbed Rookie of the Week on Nov. 23 and senior Tanner Samson was named Player of the Week on Dec. 7.
