HPU WBB Panthers Trek To Campbell On Sunday

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women’s basketball team will look for its second straight victory at Campbell on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. on the American Sports Network.

The Panthers (4-11, 3-3) snapped a five-game losing streak on Tuesday and will be looking to start a winning streak against the Camels (7-8, 2-4).

Last Time Out
Behind their talented crop of freshmen, the Purple & White erased a nine-point deficit with five minutes left to earn a critical 53-52 triumph over Coastal Carolina on Tuesday. Freshman Emma Bockrath starred for HPU with 18 points, six rebounds and five assists – including the game-winning free throws with three seconds left.

Fellow freshmen Shea Morgan and Lindsey Edwards added 12 and 10 points, respectively, as the newcomers combined for 43 of the team’s 53 points. Junior Kaylah Keys scored five points – all in the fourth quarter – after being strapped with foul trouble throughout the contest.

Keys’ Climb
• Junior Kaylah Keys is 19 points behind Stacia Robertson for fourth on HPU’s Division I scoring list with 1,255 career points.
• Last week, Keys passed Liberty’s Ashley Rininger as the leading active scorer in the Big South.
• The Southaven, Miss. native has drilled 159 career three-pointers and trails just Jurica Hargraves in High Point’s history.

Youth Movement
• HPU’s seven freshmen are logging 64 percent of the team’s minutes and are scoring 56 percent of HPU points and grabbing 62 percent of the squads steals this season.
• Freshman Emma Bockrath is averaging 17.5 points per game in the last two games.
• Bockrath (8.1 ppg) and Lindsey Edwards (8.0 ppg) are second and third in scoring among Big South freshman on the year.
• Freshman Haleigh Hatfield’s 4.3 rebounds per contest is the fourth-best average for league newcomers.

Scouting the Camels
• Campbell was picked to finish fifth in the league in the preseason trailing High Point by just two points in the poll.
• The Camels are coming off a 62-59 road loss at Radford on Monday and are 1-3 in conference play since opening up with a win over Coastal Carolina. The team is 3-4 at home on the year.
• Preseason all-league guard RaeChaun Edwards is the leader for the Camels. The senior is second on the team in scoring (11.0 ppg) while leading the conference in assists (5.0/game) and second in steals (2.7/game.)
• Junior Amanda Coffer has been one of the most efficent players in the Big South this season. The forward is posting 12.3 points per contest while hitting a league-leading 49.3 percent from the floor. She also paces the team with 6.2 rebounds per night.

All-Time Series with Campbell
• HPU leads the all-time series 25-11 with a 5-3 record under DeUnna Hendrix.
• The Panthers own a 5-3 edge in regular season meetings as Big South foes. Meanwhile, the teams split their two previous showdowns in the conference tournament.

• In 2014-15, the Purple & White raced past the Camels with a 79-59 win in the Millis Center before falling 64-61 in Gore Arena.
• Junior Kaylah Keys is tallying 15.4 points per game in five meetings with Campbell. Senior Aariel Allen recorded eight points the last time the Panthers visited CU.
