NORTHWEST GUILFORD 62
HIGH POINT CENTRAL 51

GAME NOTES:
–Northwest Guilford fought off a hot shooting performance from High Point Central as the Vikings took control of the game in the middle of the 3rd quarter which resulted in a 62-51 conference victory. The hard fought game was close throughout the 1st half until the Vikings were able to force some key turnovers from High Point Central. Northwest executed their offense down the stretch and were able to get some crucial buckets that kept the Bison in a deficit that was unsurmountable in the 4th quarter.
–Jalen Spicer led Northwest with 20 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds while Tre Turner finished with a double-double that consisted of 11 points and 15 rebounds to go along
with 4 blocks. Jaylen Gore contributed 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals.
–David Funderburg chipped in with 10 points and 5 rebounds and the Vikings also got 6 points from Reggie Davis to go along with his 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.
–Jordan Twyman and Zab McPhail led High Point Central with 13 points respectively while Jo’el Jenkins contributed 11 points for the Bison.

  1. Only 15 points given up??? Looks more like a Football score. NW Girls have to be the Fav’s to get the Ring this year

  2. Amazing the decline of High Point Central girls basketball since Kenny Carter got busted for recruiting. The rise of the Southwest Guilford and Andrews girls programs, not coincidentally, has coincided with the fall of the Bison. I guess now the best girls players who live in those two schools’ attendance zones actually go to those schools.

  3. East Davidson vs. NWG girls! I wonder how long it has been since two 19-0 teams have met?? Good for both teams for not ducking competition!!

  4. The boys basketball games will not be made up with East Davidson.

The JV girls game will be at 5pm with the varsity girls following around 6:30.

    from John Hughes NWG AD…

  5. Should be an interesting game, ED has a big committed to App St who can probably keep the NW bigs in check. ED also has a solid PG, I think committed to somewhere. Good test for both teams and hopefully a good tune up for both to make deep state championship runs. Any word on the NWG guard’s availability who has been out with ankle injury, her scoring and outside shot maybe key.

  6. East Davidson’s point guard is Madi Hallman who is a sharp shooter committed to Catawba along side NWG’s Toni Tucker

  7. Savannah Neas has been nursing that sore ankle for NWG and hopefully she will be back for the Vikings..Excellent outside shooter and a big spark for the offense..

NWG vs. Glenn on Friday and they go to SWG to face Monk, Carter, Wilson, Price, Medley and the Cowgirls next Tuesday night and you can’t sleep before the big game when you have big conference games just ahead.

  8. The East Davidson big is much better than of the biggs for NW. The ED big is stronger than a lot of boys and she just has a different type of game. If ED has a couple of guards that can run and shoot off the dribble, than I would predict an upset. When both are 19-0 it’s hard to say which way is the upset. Is ED 4A or 3A?

  9. ED is 2A.

Hayley Barbour vs. Madi Hallman is going to be an absolutely awesome point guard matchup. Both tenacious and tough-as-nails. As for Ms. Plummer? You’ll see…..the NW bigs will be tested like they’ve never been tested before.

I haven’t been this excited for a regular season girls matchup in a long time. Can’t wait till next Wednesday!

  10. East Davidson now at (20-0) after Tuesday night’s 58-44 win over the Thomasville Bulldogs…

East 2-A and NWG 4-A…East at (20-0) and NWG at (19-0) and the countdown in on until next Wednesday night at NWG…
