Game Report on Northwest Guilford-East Forsyth Boys & Girls Basketball:Seniors close out a magical Regular Season run(Barber, Harkey, Moore, Neas, Pointer and Tucker, a special group)

Girls Basketball

The Northwest Lady Vikings closed out its regular season to finish 23-0 by defeating East Forsyth 63-29. The Lady Vikings were led by Morgan Pointer with 19 points, followed by Savannah Neas with 16. Hayley Barber had 10, while Toni Tucker and Elizabeth Kitley scored 8 each. Catherine Moore rounded out the scoring with 2.

The two time defending Piedmont Triad 4A Conference regular season champions will receive a first round bye in next week’s conference tournament before resuming play Tuesday night against the winner of the first round tournament game between Ragsdale and High Point Central.

After the game, NW’s seniors, Hayley Barber, Mikayla Harkey, Catherine Moore, Savannah Neas, Morgan Pointer, & Toni Tucker were recognized during the school’s Senior Night ceremonies. The graduating class has been part of 83 wins against 24 losses over the last four years.

GAME NOTES:
–Northwest Guilford and East Forsyth battled in the regular season finale on Senior Night at Northwest. The Vikings were able to take control of the game during a crucial stretch in the 3rd quarter. In the end, Northwest never looked back from their 13 point halftime lead as the game ended with a final score of 82-60 in favor of Northwest. The Vikings shared the ball throughout the game to the tune of 24 assists on 29 made field goals.
–Tre Turner led Northwest with a near triple-double of 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists. Senior Jaylen Gore contributed 15 points and 5 assists and in the process scored the 1,000th point of his outstanding career at Northwest. Reggie Davis finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds while Riley Edwards added 11 points in his final regular season game for the Vikings. Thomas Hennigan provided his usual burst off the bench with 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists and Jalen Spicer also poured in 9 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds.
–Madison Cone led East Forsyth with 24 points while Jordan Robinson and Zach Kellum each scored 8 points for the Eagles.

SPECIAL NOTE: Junior guard, Jalen Spicer, finished with 16 assists in the Vikings’ win vs. Southwest on 2/9/16. After statistics were verify by an independent 3rd party, we are pleased to announce that Jalen has now broken his own record for assists in a single game by a Northwest player.
