HIGH POINT, N.C. – For the second straight week, freshman Haleigh Hatfield of the High Point University women’s basketball team has been named the CRONS Brand Big South Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The forward continued her stellar play posting 14 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 4-of-4 from the floor in the team’s 89-70 win over Longwood. The Winston-Salem, N.C. native followed that outing up with a 13-point, 10-rebounding performance as the Panthers downed Winthrop 80-60 on Saturday. She is averaging 14.3 points and 8.8 rebounds while shooting 63 percent from beyond the arc in the last two weeks.

Hatfield joins Emma Bockrath in winning the accolade twice this season. Along with Hatfield and Bockrath, Lindsey Edwards was named Freshman of the Week on Dec. 7 meaning HPU has won five of the 14 times it has been handed out in 2015-16.

The Purple & White will look to continue its two-game winning streak at home against Liberty on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
