STUDENTS FROM PISGAH & CHATHAM CENTRAL EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Brayden Lewis of Pisgah High School and Nick Daggett of Chatham Central High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards, powered by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel with Jersey Mike’s Subs®.

Each week, two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Lewis, a sophomore guard, was instrumental in helping Pisgah defeat the Smoky Mountain Mustangs in a 46-42 comeback win last week. She scored 16 points, nine of which were in the fourth quarter. Pisgah will take on East Gaston tonight at 7pm at home in the first round of the NCHSAA women’s basketball playoffs.

Daggett defended his 1A 113 pound NCHSAA State High School Wrestling Championship title this past weekend in Greensboro. The junior pinned Arlus Orr from Robbinsville in 4:40 for his second title and a 41-0 record.

TWC SportsChannel typically announces the winners of the awards during its Tuesday night Sports Night show and will recognize the winners throughout the week. Weekly recipients will also be recognized via Twitter and Facebook.
