Game Report: RJ Reynolds vs Northwest Guilford Boys Basketball

–Northwest Guilford and R.J. Reynolds played a high level high school basketball game in the second round of the State 4A playoffs. The Demons used hot shooting and aggressive offensive rebounding to control the game throughout the 1st half on their way to a 13 point halftime lead. The 2nd half proved to be another story as the Vikings put together a number of defensive stops to cut their deficit to a mere three points going into the 4th quarter. The final stanza was played at a back and forth pace in a raucous environment as the fan bases for both teams provided tremendous support to their squads. In the end, the Vikings came all the way back and forced overtime with a 60-60 score. Northwest refused to let their season end and controlled the extra frame to secure a 67-64 victory. Reynolds’ staff and players should be commended for a heck of a season and a great effort in a 2nd round game.
