Elon Men’s Golf Completes First Round of Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – After the Elon University men’s golf team’s first round of competition of the spring season, the Phoenix stands in a tie for 11th at an even-par 288 at the Loyola Intercollegiate at the Palm Valley Golf Club.

Freshman Philip Loeb leads the way in a tie for eighth individually after shooting 4-under 68 after the first day. Jared Mactas finished with a 71 (-1) after the first round and Jonathan DiIanni shooting a 2-over 71.

Making up the final group of five, Troy Beaver and Charlie May both shot a 75 (+3) after the first day. Both players are tied for 74th individually. Jake Leavitt is competing as an individual for the Phoenix. He finished the day one shooting a 6-over 78 at the Palm Valley Golf Club.

Indiana University is in the lead after shooting a 17-under par round of 271 on day one. The Phoenix is currently 17 shots behind at 288.

Elon continues play at the Loyola Intercollegiate tomorrow at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
