Elon’s Dixon Garners Runner-Up Finish at ECAC Track and Field Championships

BOSTON – Sophomore Emily Dixon opened the Eastern College Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships with a runner-up finish in the pentathlon on the first day of the meet on Friday, March 4, inside the Boston University Track and Field Pavilion.

Dixon tallied up a new personal-best 3,688 points during the multi-events scoring eight points for the Phoenix. That performance ranks her second on the pentathlon list in school history.

The Bath, England, native had a first-place finish in the pentathlon 800-meters with a time of 2:24.47. She also had three fourth-place standings in the high jump (1.63m), shot put (10.93m) and the long jump (5.38m). She also clocked a 9.06 in the 60-meter hurdles.

The rest of the Phoenix begins competition tomorrow on day two of the meet. Events begin at 9:45 a.m.
