GREENSBORO, N.C. – Demming Carlow scored five goals and an assist in Guilford College’s 17-2 women’s lacrosse win over visiting Muskingum University Monday night.

Carlow, a junior midfielder, had four goals and an assist by halftime, which helped the Quakers (2-2) open a 14-2 lead. Guilford’s Kelly Martin scored each of her three goals in the opening half and Taylor Campellone notched two of her three scores in the period.

Eight different Quakers found the back of the net, including rookie Amber Dionne, who notched two goals and an assist. She also collected a game-high 11 ground balls, the sixth-highest total in school history. Summer Fowler had an assist, plus sparked an excellent defensive performance with six ground balls and two caused turnovers. Sammi Milbourn made four saves and yielded the Fighting Muskies’ (2-1) two first-half goals. Sarah Sedaghat played most of the second half, but did not face a shot.

Kaeleigh Norvet and Katie Megery tallied for Muskingum (2-1), which lost top scorer Ashley Adams after the sophomore picked up a second yellow card midway through the first half. Goalie Kate Shamel made eight of the team’s 11 saves in the first half. Samantha Abrahamsen stopped three second-half shots in goal.

Coach Sarah Lamphier’s club returns to action March 14 against St. Mary’s College of Maryland in a contest played in Puerto Rico.
